FEDC creates an annual Interior Agriculture Directory to help local consumers find local grown and produced products. They also created the Golden Heart Grown label to help consumers identify locally grown products.

If you're ready to start your own garden, Fairbanks has plenty of options to purchase seeds, plant starts, tools, and other gardening materials. Click the links below to explore your options and explore our learning section further down this page for more information on starting a garden.

Want to grow at home through the winter? We have free plans for a 16 plant site grow tower that is easy to build, inexpensive, and a great way to grow food year round. Click below for the directions to build a grow tower or a floating platform system and an instructional tower building video created the Silent Springs FFA Chapter.

Interested in building your own hydroponic tower but missing some of the tools? FSWCD is offering a free two-week rental of a Tower Building Tool Kit. The kit contains all tools required to build a tower including a cordless drill, drill bits, hole saw attachments, a PVC cutter, a glue gun, heavy duty scissors, a Dremel 3000 kit, a measuring tape, and a pair of pliers. The kit DOES NOT include building materials (buckets, PVC pipe, grow lights, etc.) Kit rental is completely free but a $200 deposit is required to rent.
